This week we continue to study why God wants us to realize we only have a certain number of days of life on this Earth.

Last week we learned the Word of God is very descriptive of mankind’s life span. From Adams 930 years (Gen.5:5) to King David’s 70 years (2Sam.5:4) God’s Word tells us we have a definite numbers of days of life.

In Psa.90:10, 12 Moses tells us that on average we live 70-80 years and that we should number our days because by doing so we will act differently.  Moses us perspective of our life span in Psa.90:4-6, 2, 9-10.  James 4:14 and Matt.6:25 express how short our lifespan is in perspective to God.

Why does God want us to realize the shortness of our lifespan?

In Luke 12:13-21 Jesus gives us an example of a man who has no regard for the shortness of his lifespan.  Notice the man says “I” six times (number 6 designates man in the Bible) and gives no thought of 1)God, 2) giving thanks for what he had, 3) giving God the glory for his blessings, 4) blessing others with his abundance, 5) how long he would live.

With the proper perspective on our lifespan we will not put as much attention on material things, but we will glorify God for every blessing He has bestowed on us and we will bless others with those blessings (Matt.6:19-21).

Paul gives us more perspective on our lives in 2Cor.4:16-18 and Rom.8:18.

Psa.118:24, Psa.68:19, John 10:10 and Matt.6:33 teach us how we should look at our lives everyday.

Mid way through this study Bro. Leo gives an excellent Biblical commentary on our societies promotion of homosexual life styles.  His explanation should be every Christians response to the movement.

This week we continue to study what Jesus was teaching us about time when He said “Are there not twelve hours in the day?”

Last week we learned two principles Jesus was teaching about time.

Principle 1) Time is a creation of God, John 17:1, 4,-5, Rev.1:8, 11a, 18a, John 1:1, 14, 17, 1-3, Gen.1:1-6, 5c. God created time as a gift and blessing to mankind, Gen.1:8, 13, 19, 23, 31, Gen.2:2-3.

Principle 2) Each day possesses a definite and limited amount of time and God gives us the responsibility of how to handle that time. Time is a boundary or limitation that God has set in the created natural world, John 11:9. Because of time’s limitation and boundary there is an extremely high value of time, Eph.5:16. In Eph.5:16 the word “redeem” is translated from the Greek word “exagorazō” which means value. Time has such a high value that time can not be purchased at any price.

Jesus was revealing to His disciples, the religious leaders of His day and those around Him that He is God and has been existing since before time began (“before Abraham I Am”), Psa.90:1-2, 4.

Jesus used His time to Glorify Father God.  When we compare the healing miracles that Jesus performed, we notice that Jesus uses His time in the best way to glorify God.  Sometimes He would heal with His touch, sometimes He would wait until they died and then raise them from the dead, and sometimes He would just speak the words to heal (John 4:43-47).  Jesus did His work in the way that would bring God the most glory.

In Eph.5:14-18 Paul explains that we should value time to the point of realizing that there are only two choices of how we can use our time, 1) to do God’s will or 2) for evil.

God’s will for us to use our time from the beginning  is to work, be productive, be in a relationship with Him and a spouse.  In Gen.1:27-28 God gave Adam personal responsibility to take care of and have dominion over creation, have a relationship and be fruitful.  In Gen.2:4-5, 15 God gave Adam the responsibility to take care of and work the Garden of Eden and do it with joy.  God has created us to be productive and responsible in our everyday life.

In Mark 6:1-3 we see that Jesus worked as a carpenter when He wasn’t ministering to the world.  Not only was Jesus saving the world, but He was also being productive as a tradesman.

We all have a God given desire to be productive and a lot of folks are really feeling that desire now with the world governments response to the coronacold.

Ecc.10:18 tells us that slothfulness ruins our house.  In other words living outside the will of God decays our spirits.  The folks who are not able to be productive now because of the governments response to the coronacold are likely feeling the decay of their spirits and need to aware of it so they can defend themselves from the spiritual decay (Eph.5:17-19).

Regardless of our circumstances we need to find joy in our daily lives (Psa.118:21-26, Eph.5:20).

Take a few minutes and compare the world governments response to the coronacold to how the folks operated in Gen.11:1-7.  Times are changing drastically and it will be critical to our spiritual health that we become spiritually prepared for what may be coming in the near future (Eph.5:16).

Today’s study concentrates on two principle Jesus taught in John 11:6-9.

In the parts 1-3 of this series we have learned the differences between the intentions of the Sabbath Laws and the Mishnah oral laws (1521 addendum’s added to the Mosaic Law) that the Jewish religious leaders had developed AND IN PART 4 we see how the Mishnah oral laws actually have it backwards (condemning the guiltless, Matt.12:7).  This week we learn how Jesus proclaimed His authority over the Sabbath Day and the religious leaders of the time (Matt.12:8).

Jesus proclaims His authority to the Pharisees over the Sabbath Day (Matt.12:8, Mark 2:28).  In Mark 2:28 Jesus tells the Pharisees that the Sabbath Day was made for man with the intentions of being a blessing to them (Exo.20:9-11, Duet.5:12-15, Matt.23:2-4).  The Pharisees and Sadducee’s had turned the Sabbath Day from a blessing to another form of bondage for the Jewish nation.  The same thing has happened to Christianity in many denominations over the last 2000+ years with all the formalities, rituals/traditions and man made doctrines/rules (Matt.15:8-9, 14).

“SON of MAN”

This title is used over 80 times by Jesus in the New Testament.  When Jesus uses the term “Son of Man” He is stressing His humanity, when He uses the term “Son of God” He is stressing His divinity.

When Jesus uses “Son of Man” He is saying that He has taken on human nature in order to represent humanity before God (1Tim.2:4-6).  The word “mediator” is translated from the Greek word “mesitēs” which means one who unites or brings together two opposing parties for the purpose of peace and reconciliation.  The term “Son of Man” stresses the fact that Jesus is the one and only mediator between man and God (1Pet.3:18-19, 2Cor.5:18-19, 21).

In Matt.9:1-7 Jesus proclaims the sins of man who was sick with palsy and the Scribes accused Him of blasphemy.  Jesus uses their accusations to prove He is God and the “Son of Man” by comparing this to His healing miracles and.

All the Messianic scholars of the Jesus’ time were fully aware of the term “Son of Man” because they were aware of Dan.7:13-14.  Notice in Mark 14:61-62 Jesus quotes Dan.7:13-14 to the Pharisees and they recognized this prophecy and were real upset.  Psa.80:1,14,17-19 is another prophecy of the “Son of Man”.  Now we can understand that what Jesus told the Pharisees and Sadducee’s during His crucifixion trial caused them to feel He was threatening their authority and power over the Jewish people, how many Christian religious leaders today act the very same way as the Pharisee’s and Sadducee’s?

Mark 10:45 Jesus tells us He came to minister to us, not for us to minister to Him and He is still ministering to us (Heb.4:14-16, Heb.9:24, Heb.7:24.
