9-26-2021 “THE CHOICE!” Matthew 24:5

This week Bro. Leo continues us on a study of the Jesus you never knew by looking at the dual prophesy from Jesus in Matt.24 and how we should be reacting to the current events.

Please listen to this audio file. Bro. Leo discusses several current event scenario’s, everything from vaccine to prayer in school classrooms, and how we as Christians should be reacting to and acting to each occasion by believing truth or deception.

9-19-2021 “ANTICHRIST’S, EARTHQUAKES AND PANDEMICS!” part2 Matthew 24:3-8

This week Bro. Leo continues us on a study of the Jesus you never knew by looking at the dual prophesy from Jesus in Matt.24 and how we should be reacting to the current events.

Last week we learned that in Matt.24:3-8, 15 Jesus is prophesying of both the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem and the 7 years of tribulation of the end times. Notice in vs.13 and 14 Jesus is not talking about salvation , He is talking about those folks being physically saved from the war against Israel. During the current Church age there are several precursors to the events of the 7 years of tribulation. In 1John 4:1-3 we see that there have been the spirit of antichrist on Earth since the Church age began. The spirit of antichrist is anything that “exalteth himself above all that is called God” or opposes God. We see this spirit in the USA increasing daily(Rev.12:12). In Matt.24:7 the word “earthquake” is translated from the Greek word “seismos” which means a shaking or upheaval; any natural upheaval, such as forest fires, floods, storms, tornados/hurricanes, earthquakes. Paul tells us in Rom.8:18-22 that we should be expecting the rapture along with “all” of creation. These upheavals are birthing pains in creation in expectation of deliverance into a new day. Jesus gives us the principle in John 16:20-21. In Matt.24:7 the word “famine” is translated from the Greek word “limos” which means a scarcity of anything; food, gas, oil, water, supplies. Scarcity induces panic, which we are seeing now and have seen in the past.

The signs Jesus describes in Matt.24 represent the coming of the judgement of God. In Rom.13:11-14 Paul tells us that we need to be ramping up our relationship with God and our fellow believers (Heb.10:22-25). Heb.10:25 tells not to “forsaking the assembling of ourselves together”, which is exactly what we saw last year with the pandemic (2Thess.2:3).

Rev.3:14-19 describes the Church in the last days, sounds an awful lot like the state of the Church in the USA now.

Scriptures used in today’s study:

Mat 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
Mat 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

1Jn 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
Rom 8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Rom 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Rom 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

9-12-2021 “ANTICHRIST’S, EARTHQUAKES AND PANDEMICS!” Matthew 24:3-8

This week Bro. Leo continues us on a study of the Jesus you never knew by looking at the dual prophesy from Jesus in Matt.24.

In Matt.24:3-8, 15 Jesus is prophesying of both the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem and the 7 years of tribulation of the end times. During the first 3-1/2 years of the tribulation there will be many antichrists, rumors of wars, nations against nations vs.8. In vs.15 and 21 are the final 3-1/2 years of the tribulation. Notice in vs.13 and 14 Jesus is not talking about salvation , He is talking about those folks being saved from the destruction of Jerusalem.

In Matt.24:7 the word “famine” is translated from the Greek word “limos” which means a scarcity of anything; food, gas, oil, water, supplies. Scarcity induces panic, which we are seeing now and have seen in the past.

In Matt.24:7 the word “pestilences” is translated from the Greek word “loimos” which means plague, disease-spreadable or communicable regional or global. We’re seeing these increase in the last few hundred years.

Eze.7:1-3, 15 explains that these are happening as a sign of God’s judgement on a Nation. 2Chr. 7:13-14 tells us what we need to do in order for God to save us and our Nation (Dan.9:3-8).

Currently we are in the same shape as the folks during the flood of Noah’s time (Rom.1:25, 32).

9-5-2021 “THE YOKE OF JESUS!” Matthew 11:28-30

This week Bro. Leo continues us on a study of the Jesus you never knew by looking at what the yoke of Jesus is in Matt.11:30.

For the last four weeks we have been studying how Jesus introduced Himself as the Messiah to the Jewish leaders and the transition from the Law to Grace in Matt.11:28-30. In Matt.11:28-30 Jesus is transitioning the Jews from the Mosaic Laws (Old Covenant) to Himself the Messiah, Grace. In the Mosaic Law the Jews were under the yoke of 613 laws and 400-600 addendums that the Jewish leaders had added to the Law. Jesus is telling them all they have to do now is to come to Him and take His yoke and learn from Him in an abiding, continuous personal relationship. He will teach them, equip them and guide them through life. In Matt.23:1-9,13-15, 23-24, Matt.5:1-3, 7-9, 14 Jesus addresses the issue of legalism (yoke of traditions) with the Jewish religious leaders. We learned the initial rest was a rest for the Jews from the 613 Mosaic Laws, commands, 400+- additions to the law, the legalism of Judaism (Matt.23:4-5, 23-24), guilt laden works. Notice that the focus in vs.28 is Me and I (Jesus). In Exo.33:13-14 Moses asks God for grace and God said His presence will go with Moses resulting in “rest”. So, when Jesus said, in Matt.11:28, He would give rest, the Jews recognized that Jesus was telling them He was God and would give them “rest” by His presence in their lives, grace not works. We learned about the second “rest” Jesus mentions in vs.29 (ye shall find rest unto your souls). The word “rest” is translated from the Greek word “anapausis” which means a relaxation of a strained effort, a succession of or a letting go of, a release of; resulting in a spiritual nature of inward tranquility, a calmness, a quietness of heart mind and soul. This second rest is a deeper rest, an abiding rest, a result of being in yoked with Jesus. Notice in Matt.11:28-30 Jesus refers to Himself 7 times as the source of our rest. Jesus gives us what religion and legalism can not, He gives us rest. With Jesus we no longer have to rely on our own “labor” (works) for our salvation. The works that we do after we are saved all come from His power, not our own (Matt.23:4, 2Tim.1:12, Heb.3:10-12, 17-19, Heb.4:10-11). In Heb.3:10-12, 17-19 the “unbelief” the Hebrew writer is talking about is not that the Israelites didn’t believe in God, they experienced God parting the Red Sea and feeding them mana, they didn’t trust God’s provisions. Without trusting in God’s provisions for our every need there is no way we can enter into God’s rest. And we learned Jesus describes Himself as “meek and lowly”. The word “meek” is translated from the Greek word “praos” which means meek, mild and gentle, approachable and accessible. The wod “lowly” is translated from the Greek word “tapeinos” which means a condition of the mind in which how you truly view yourself as lowly humble and modest which results in a servants mindset. Jesus came to us to be our servant (Matt.20:25-28). Jesus didn’t come to us to condemn us, He came to save us (John 3:17). Jesus is nonjudgmental and noncondemning (John 8:1-11). In John 8:1-11 Jesus puts the Scribes and Pharisees on the same level as the accused adulterer. The Scribes and Pharisees had elevated themselves above the people not unlike a lot of Christian religions in the world today, which is not Scriptural. Notice that Jesus tells the adulterer that He doesn’t condemn her, but He then tells her to “go, and sin no more”.

The word “easy” in Matt.11:30 is translated from the Greek word “chrēstos” which means to be useful, beneficial, helpful, profitable, and good. In this context the “yoke” represents a certain set of teachings, requirements and expectations within a religious system or under a certain religious teacher. The yoke of the Mosaic law consisted of 613 commandments and between 400-600 addendums added to the Law.

In Acts 15:1-11 we see that some of the Pharisees that believed in Jesus were trying to incorporate some of the Mosaic laws into Christianity, “to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?” Acts 15:10.

Paul tells us in Gal.5:1-6 that we should not be entangled with the “yoke of bondage”, speaking of adding works of “the Law” to Grace. Paul goes on to say that if we try to justify ourselves by our works then we have fallen away from Grace.

When asked what the work of God is in John 6:28-29 Jesus told them “This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” Jesus goes on to say in vs.40 that “that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life”.

In Matt.22:35-40 (John 13:34-35, Matt.16:24-25)Jesus defines His “yoke” “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

John sums up the Yoke of Jesus in 1John 5:1-6, 10-12. It is God who enables us to carry the Yoke of Jesus (Jer.31:33-35, Exe.36:25-27, John 14:20, 2Cor.4:16).
