7-9-2017 “Our Living Hope” part 2, 1Peter 1-3

In today’s study Bro. Leo teaches the Biblical principle of the ‘living hope’ that every Christian should be experiencing daily with part 2.

In 1Pet.1:3 the words “lively hope” are translated from the Greek words “zaō elpis”. zaō means energizing overflowing, consistent optimism that should be the condition of the heart of the Christian.
elpis means an expectancy of and a looking forward to of that which is good in this life and eternally from God.

In Rom.8:18-25 Paul gives us his definition of ‘living hope’ by explaining that through an accounting process of totaling all of his daily sufferings does not compare to the glory that waits for him in heaven. In vs.28 Paul goes on to explain our ‘living hope’ for our daily lives.

‘Living Hope’ is a product of the Holy Spirit(Rom.15:13) in our hearts, it is not based upon our circumstances (1Pet.1:4-5, Eph.2:11-12, Col.1:27, Rom.15:13).

In 1Peter 1:13 the word “sober” is translated from the Greek word “nēphō” which means to have ones mind under control.
Our mind is always under the influence of something, Peter is saying Christians should be under the influence of ‘living hope’.

Rom 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

1Pe 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Eph 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory

Rom 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Psa 124:8 Our help(hope) is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Psa 146:2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
Psa 146:5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
Psa 146:6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:

1Pe 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
1Pe 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
1Pe 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear

1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1Pe 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
1Pe 3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
1Pe 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
1Pe 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
