This week Bro. Leo continues us on a Resurrection Sunday study by looking at the message of the Cross.

The Cross is and was the plan of God even before creation (Acts 2:22-23).  The Cross did not happen by chance or because of an angry mob that got out of hand and went too far.

The Cross is the power of God (1Cor.2:6-7, 1 Cor.1:18, 1Cor.1:24).  The power to save humanity is of God and not of man (2Cor.4:5-7).  There is nothing we can do (good works, Gal.2:16) to save ourselves, only the power of God can save.

There are two types of people in the world, 1) those who reject the message of the Cross and 2) those who receive the message of the Cross.

The type that reject the message of the Cross do so for a couple different reasons.  Some reject the Cross because they think they are saved by their “religion” (1Cor.1:23 “unto the Jews a stumblingblock”, Gal.5:2-4, 6).  Some reject the Cross because they consider themselves wise and the message of the cross foolish (1Cor.1:23 “unto the Greeks foolishness”, 1Cor.1:22).

The type of people who receive the message of the Cross have come to the realization and understanding that we are ungodly, ruled by sin, can not save ourselves and the Cross is the only door unto Heaven (Rom.5:6, 8, 1Pet.3:18, Heb.9:25-28, Col.2:13-14).
