11-13-2022 “THE ONE THING THAT IS NEEDFUL!” Luke 10:38-42

This week Bro. Leo continues us on a Biblical study of how God wants our faith to progress from the day we’re saved until the day we pass from this life into eternal life.

For the last few weeks we have been studying what we should be asking God to bless us with. This week we start to study how we ask Him.

In Luke 10:38-42 Jesus tells us that the one thing we need is a personal relationship with Him. The word “needful” in vs.42 is translated from the Greek word “chreia” which means absolute necessity. Mary had 1) placed herself before Jesus 2) with an expectancy to hear what He had to say to her. 1) Mary made a choice 2) Mary devoted time to hearing Jesus 3) Mary placed herself before Jesus 4) Mary expected to hear from Jesus.

Alone time with Jesus is a necessity, not an option. Notice in Matt.6:6 Jesus tells us “when” not “if” we pray. Jesus expects us to have quite time with Him. Jesus gave us examples of how we are to spend time with Him. In Mark 1:35, Mark 14:23 He departed from the crowd and went to a solitary place to be alone with God. In Psa.46:10 the word “still” is translated from the Hebrew word “râphâh” which means absence of noise, activity, or motion, a letting go.

In order to hear God’s will for us we must first choose to place ourselves in His presence, for as long as it takes, with the expectancy of hearing Him (Luke 10:38-42).
