3-20-2022 “SUSTAINING GRACE!” Romans 8:31-32 part 2

This week Bro. Leo continues us in a study of God’s sustainable grace. Bro. Leo goes into great depth the differences between God’s “saving grace” and His “sustaining grace”, works based religion vs. God’s grace and man’s religion vs. the personal relationship between the individual believer and Jesus and eternal salvation vs. self determined salvation. Leo discusses many pertinent points, more so than I can adequately cover in this blog. So, please listen to this audio recording of the study.

3-13-2022 “SUSTAINING GRACE!” Romans 8:31-32

This week Bro. Leo leads us in a study of God’s sustaining grace.
Last week we learned the word “grace” is translated from the Greek word “doron” which means a present or a gift given freely or gratuitously, not earned or merited or deserved. Grace is an experience, we actually experience the moment God saves us. Rom.5:12,15 tells us that the salvation experience comes through Jesus only (Acts 4:10-12, Rom.5:17, 19, 2Cor.5:21). Saving grace comes from the righteousness of Jesus, not anything we have or can do (2Cor.5:21, Rom.5:15, 17, 20). God’s grace is (abounded) inexhaustible, infinite, unending, eternal supply (Rom.5:15, 17, 20). In contrast to God’s abundance grace, our sins are finite because our lives are finite 9Psa.146:1-3, Psa.49:10-13, Psa.90:9-10). We experience salvation because of God’s saving grace, not because of anything we have done (Titus 3:4-5, 7).
This week we learn that after God saves us He sustains us through His grace (Rom. 8:31-32, 2Pet.1:3).God’s sustaining/available grace is more than we can image or hope for (Phil.4:19). In Phil.4:19 the word “supply” is translated from the Greek word “plēroō” which means abundantly supply, abundance.
James 1:5-6 tells us that if we ask for wisdom in faith God will provide and it’s clear from these other Scriptures that He also provides all our needs abundantly (Psa.23:5, Psa.68:19, Psa.124:1-8).
Scriptures used in today’s study:
Rom 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

1Sa 17:46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

3-6-2022 “SAVING GRACE!” Romans 5:12, 15, 19-20

This week Bro. Leo leads us on an introductory study of God’s saving grace by using Moses and the children of Israel as an example of God’s saving grace along with how the New Testament describes saving grace.
Last week we learned in Titus 3:7 and Eph.2:8 grace is made up of three elements. 1) a giver, 2)receiver, 3) a gift. God is the giver, we are the receiver and salvation is the gift (saving grace), daily blessings (sustaining grace). The word “grace” is translated from the Greek word “doron” which means a present or a gift given freely or gratuitously, not earned or merited or deserved. Grace is an experience, we actually experience the moment God saves us.
Rom.8:31-32 describes both saving grace and sustaining grace. God saves us through His Son and He sustains us from that point forward. In Rom.5:15 the gift is the salvation experience (John 1:10-12, John 3:5-7).

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Rom 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

2-27-2022 “GOD’S GRACE : 101!” Deuteronomy 7:6-9

This week Bro. Leo leads us on an introductory study of God’s grace by using Moses and the children of Israel as an example of both God’s saving grace and His sustaining grace.
In Deut.7:6-9 we learn that God did not choose the nation of Israel because of their righteousness or their population. In other words Israel didn’t earn their favor with God. God chose Israel to be a “special people” unto Himself. The phrase “special people” means God chose the children of Israel to be in a special loving relationship with Him, so that He could bless them with blessings, give them victory over their enemies, bless all the other nations of the world.
As a born again child of God, once we are saved, we are brought into a special loving relationship with Jesus by which He can bless us, equip us, so that we can be a blessing to other folks. The same way He blessed Israel. Like Israel, a born again child of God is not chosen because of our merits, we were chosen by God because God is love, faithful and overflowing with grace (Titus 3:4-7, Eph.2:8).
In Titus 3:7 and Eph.2:8 grace is made up of three elements.
In John 3:16a we find the reason for God’s grace towards us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave”. Love is the spirit in which we experience God’s grace.
In order to better understand God’s grace towards us we must learn His love for us. In Luke 6:32 and Luke 7:41-43 we our natural nature of love. In contrast, we see how God loves in Rom.5:6-8,10. Our love for God is actually His love for us being reciprocated back to Him through His Holy Spirit indwelling us 1John 4:10,19,9, Rom.5:5-6.
Scriptures used in today’s study:
Deu 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
Deu 7:7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
Deu 7:8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Deu 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
Deu 9:5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Tit 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Tit 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Luk 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
Luk 6:32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
Luk 7:41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
Luk 7:42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
Luk 7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Rom 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
1Jn 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
1Jn 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

2-13-2022 “ALL ABOUT GOD’S LOVE FOR US!” Deuteronomy 11:13-15 part2

This week Bro. Leo continues us in a study of what God needs from us in order for Him to fully bless us throughout the year ahead by studying the principles He gave Moses and Joshua for the nation of Israel in order for them to enter into the Promised Land.
Last weeks study revealed that our obedience to God stems from His love for us (Deut.11:13,22, John 14:15, Matt.22:34-40, 1John 4:10). Our obedience to God’s will is an ability given to us by His Holy Spirit (Rom.5:5, Eph.3:17-19, Eze. 36:27). Obedience that is not motivated from our love for God is robotic, cold, mechanical religious drudgery. Love that does not result in a desire to please God is a lie and lip service only.
This week we learn that our love for God and our love for our neighbors are actually God’s love for us being reciprocated through the power of His Holy Spirit (1John 4:7-10, 1Pet.1″7-9, Rom.5:5-8).
Our focus Scriptures, Deut.11, teaches us that we must do three things in order for God to fully bless us: 1) put ourselves in a position to hear God, 2) put ourselves in a position to follow God, 3) put ourselves in a position of being centered in God’s will. Meditating on God’s love for us is how we start the process of positioning ourselves to God.

2-6-2022 “ALL ABOUT GOD’S LOVE FOR US!” Deuteronomy 11:13, 22

This week Bro. Leo continues us in a study of what God needs from us in order for Him to fully bless us throughout the year ahead by studying the principles He gave Moses and Joshua for the nation of Israel in order for them to enter into the Promised Land.
Today’s study reveals that our obedience to God stems from His love for us (Deut.11:13,22, John 14:15, Matt.22:34-40, 1John 4:10).

1-3-2022 “YOU HAVE NOT PASSED THIS BEFORE!” Joshua 3:3-5

This week Bro. Leo leads continues us in a study of what God needs from us in order for Him to fully bless us throughout the year ahead by studying the principles He gave Moses and Joshua for the nation of Israel in order for them to enter into the Promised Land.
In Joshua 3:3-5 there are two predominant principles. 1) God’s plan (Joshua 3:5) 2) God’s timing (Joshua 3:3-4). The nation of Israel had to follow God in God’s timing in order for God to lead them into the Promise Land. In much the same way, Christians must follow God in His timing in order for God to lead us to the blessings He has instore for us in 2022 (Jer.29:11).
To know God’s will for us each day we must have a consistent study time and alone time with Him (Psa.1:2-3,6, Joshua 1:7-8). If we fail to do that we will be relying on our own understanding and planning (James 1:5-8).
Scriptures used in today’s study:
Jos 3:3 And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.
Jos 3:4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.
Jos 3:5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.
Isa 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Jer 29:10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jer 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Jer 29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Psa 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Jos 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
Jos 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
Jas 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Jas 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
1-23-2022 “THE LAND THAT OVERFLOWS!” Deuteronomy 11:8-9

This week Bro. Leo leads continues us in a study of what God needs from us in order for Him to fully bless us throughout the year ahead by studying the principles He gave Moses for the nation of Israel in order for them to enter into the Promised Land.
In our last study we learned the three entities involved in God’s principles of the promised land and to the life of a Christian. In Deut.11:11-15 we see three entities, 1)God 2) Nation of Israel 3) Promised Land. Applied to the NT Christian 1)God 2) Daily life of a Christian 3)God’s provisions/blessings.
This week we learn the principles God set forth for the Nation of Israel and the NT Church in order to receive the blessings of God in their fullest. 1) We must live in the center of God’s will (Deut. 11:9, Eph.1:16-20, Josh.3:1-5). 2) Our obedience to God’s will has to originate from our love for God (Deut. 11:13, Eph.3:16-19).
Scriptures used in today’s study:
Deu 11:8 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
Deu 11:9 And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
Deu 11:12 A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Eph 1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

1-9-2022 “FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END!” part2 Deuteronomy 11:11-12

This week Bro. Leo leads continues us in a study of what God needs from us in order for Him to fully bless us throughout the year ahead.
Last week we learned the Children of Israel living and dwelling in the Promised land is representative of a New Testament Christian living and dwelling in the center of God’s will (land of milk and honey) (Deut.11:8). As a Christian we must strive to be obedient to God in order to experience all the blessings He has for us. The first thing we must do to be obedient is to love God more and more (Deut.11:13). It is from our love of God that our desire to obey and serve Him increases (Deut.10:12-14, Matt.6:33, 24-25).
This week we apply God’s principles of the promised land to the life of a Christian. In Deut.11:11-15 we see three entities, 1)God 2) Nation of Israel 3) Promised Land. Applied to the NT Christian 1)God 2) Daily life of a Christian 3)God’s provisions/blessings.
Principle 1 from vs.8, 10- God has to bring us out of the bondage of sin before He can fully bless us. This happens when we put our full trust in Him and seek His will in a particular area of our life. Our full trust in God is what relieves us of the stress of this transition out of bondage (Exo.16:2-3). Our prayer should be that God would fill us the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Col.1:9).
Scriptures used in today’s study:
Deu 11:8 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
Deu 11:9 And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
Deu 11:10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
Deu 11:11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
Deu 11:12 A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
Deu 11:13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deu 11:14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
Deu 11:15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
Exo 16:2 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
Exo 16:3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
Num 11:4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
Num 11:5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
Num 11:6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
Heb 11:23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
Heb 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
Heb 11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
Deu 11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
Deu 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
Deu 11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Col 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Col 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
