This week Bro. Leo continues us on our study of “The Jesus you never knew” that we started in January 2020 with part 2 of the encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus.
Nicodemus was a Jewish religious leader just like U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver is a United Methodist Church pastor. In today’s study, Bro. Leo will demonstrate through the scriptures how Nicodemus and Emanuel Cleaver demonstrate the mindsets of the Pharisees of Nicodemus’ time and the Modern day Pharisees such as Emanuel Cleaver. Please take time to listen to this recording of the study as there are entirely too many relevant points to list in this blog. For reference here is some of the prayer that U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver prayed in a joint session of Congress a few weeks ago:
Now may the God who created the world and everything in it bless us and keep us. May the Lord make his face to shine upon us and be gracious unto us. May the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon us and give us peace — peace in our families, peace across this land and, dare I ask, oh Lord — peace even in this chamber, now and ever more. We ask it in the name of the monotheistic god, Brahma, and god known by many names by many different faiths. Amen and A-Woman. – U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Mat 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
